History has a very sweet disposition in general, very content to sit and talk to someone
History; History was born quite a long time ago. She was not born on Fable, but in the same place Alcott had left. Her egg had been laid long before Alcott was even born, 300 years to be precise. It was no larger, and no more extraordinary than a simple rock--though legend says that the most extraordinary things take the longest to come about. Inside her shell, History was but a developing embryo--completely oblivious to the happenings of the outside world.
History hatched 300 years to the day, after Alcott and Ben discovered Fable. She was a mere lizard it seemed, though and odd one indeed. Instead of scales, she had leathery skin that was actually covered in a soft fur. She was also a stunning white color and had tiny wings on her back. No one quite knew what she was, but she was special.
History never had a problem with herself until she grew older and less naive. When she was 67 years old, Alcott made a trip back. He found her, hearing things about a strange white lizard. They connected instantly, and he brought her back to the island with him agreeing to help her figure out what she was--he was, quite honestly, just as curious as she about it. It took them 191 years to figure it out.
For weeks before Bea gave birth to Jack, History found herself drawn to the castle. She remembers very well the day he was born. She was 258 years old and content with her size. The had long since given up active pursuit of her species. Alcott had come to tell her the good news about his healthy baby boy. When she was told, History had the strangest sensation and in a flash of light that originated at her core, a giant Chinese-style dragon was in her place. Her wings, outstretched, were longer than her incredibly long body. It was a truly magnificent sight, but a very confusing event for History. She looked to see Alcott knocked to the ground and smiling in awe. "I think we know what you are now," was all he said. A moment after was when History could feel the connection. She was compelled to find this person. Alcott could sense it as well. "I do think you've found your rider. This must be why you've grown so suddenly. Your body has been waiting all this time for your rider to be born and h finally has. History, I do believe my son is your intended rider. My Jack!" Alcott was simply amazed. At Alcott's request, History remained in the garden and very soon, Alcott came in holding a small bundle and History knew that Alcott was exactly right. She dipped her head to the Enchanter and his new son. "I give you both my oath to serve and protect your son, and my rider from this moment until we both shall die." She was very serious.
The days following, Alcott helped History get used to her new size and flying. Once she had gotten the hang of flying, he'd go out with her so she could get used to having a rider. They had a wonderful time learning from each other.
It was apparent from the beginning that Jack felt a connection to History. As he grew up, he spent more and more time with her until finally it seemed they were inseparable. It was at age 12 that Alcott allowed the pair to fly alone. Jack an amazing time and it was clear that History was channeling his energy. So it was devastating to both when Alcott and his dragon were killed on a trip back to England--a similar trip to the one Alcott had been on when he'd found History. Jack was left to learn from his cousin, Ben, but not much as he'd been quite old enough to have mastered most things already.
As the years went by, History and Jack went through many things--including Jack taking over the role of Enchanter and the humans coming to the island. It was clear by then that History's life was strongly connected to Jack's--considering she was already much older than dragons normally live. She has seen an incredible number of things given her age. She is one of the oldest living animals on the island.
History is preparing herself for the battle that Jack keeps trying to avoid--but who knows how the Norms will react?
