The first inhabitants came to the island 1470 years ago. They were a pair of dragons with their riders, Alcott an his apprentice Ben. Alcott was a very powerful Magycian, very respected. He and his apprentice had been out searching for new lands, pure lands--lands that hadn't been touched by corruption, when they came across the large island secluded in the sea.

In the year 1, the order was set. All the different species had made their place and Alcott had set up things. The creatures had decided on the order, Alcott would be the Keeper of the island. He would work with a chosen representative of each of the eight other species and work to keep things peaceful. It was said that when his time was done, the next eldest Magycian would take his place.

In 582, Alcott was killed on a trip back to England and a Magycian named Bea was named Keeper.

In 771, Bea died when she used all her Magyk to ward off a storm that would have devastated the island. Our current Keeper and Enchanter, Jack, took over at that point.

In 927, the humans ran aground on the south shore. Jack handled things well, and the transition of the humans into Fable, as they had come to call their island, was smooth. The humans had a King who made the laws for them, Magyks agreed to abide by these laws as well. Jack was still considered the Keeper of the island to them, but he also had a new title of Enchanter that the humans gave to him.

In 1338, a group of humans brought up their concerns and warned of riots. The King, with aide from Jack, gave them a small area of land for them and others who shared their beliefs to make their way in as long as they left peacefully. It was agreed upon and the new group dubbed themselves the Norms.

Now it is the year 1470, a year of Fable, and the tensions have been felt, and have been growing steadily. It appears that the Norms want more land and are not willing to peacefully negotiate.
